Free, better alternatives to using Gmod for "animation".

OpenToonz, Krita, Wick Editor, old versions of Flash (if you know where to look)

Or if you want to stick to 3D, Blender's a good option.

PS: I personally don't recommend "trying to get around having to actually animate". Not on Newgrounds. Put some effort into it next time.

mcfedcomics responds:

Reason i used GMOD was so to get around, having to actually animate bridget "swinging" always work smarter and not harder
Other than that thanks for the tip bro :)

You already got BTGG fully funded. Twice. At this rate, just use Patreon.

those campaigns were for issues 1 & 2 respectively. this is for the 3rd issue

Tracing. Enough said.

Cevoya responds:

I understand what you mean, I understand it and respect it, but the technique is called "Rotoscopy", which some artist use to create realistic movements in animation, or simply to be sure they catch all the movements of the original video, and put it into the final animation.

It was used in Disney movies on their firsts days, and is used nowdays too, like in this example, you can appreciate the realistic movements on the dancing, gravity and simply, the way they move:

I posted this with the tag "rotoscopy" on it, and if I wanted to avoid the fact that I took the body movement reference, I would´t have shown how it was made, and welp, I obviously had to replace the whole body with another, and make all his muscles to react to movement.

Once again, I understand what you mean, and respect it, but I certainly wasn´t looking for a simple trace thing.

Wish you a good day.

Well played.

Congrats on the Flash Jam win. If it weren't for you, I'd never figure out how to make gradients go corrupt.

But mark my words. Next year, I'm throwing my hat into the ring of -- I N F I N I T Y ! - -

hahahaha!

PS: I did NOT download the source FLA and have figured it out on my own.

Emrox responds:

Hope to see you there!

Minecraft Steve Not Included:

I will say, you did put a lot of work and detail into the animation and background effects (that's pretty much all non-shitpost animations), but it isn't perfect. I have only two very minor criticisms
1. Some paralax effects don't look right, such as with at the movie theatre, where some seats move left and some move right when the camera pans out.
2. Minor inconsistencies between scenes. Case in point, this scene in 0:48 where the guy's popcorn is gone. Note the thin lines and exaggerated faces, which differs from the next scene (0:56), with thicker outlines and a more anime-esque look. The difference is night and day, more than it needs to be.

There's also the "weird moaning anime noises", as the so-called "retards" point out. A common trope in anime that is often memed upon (look it up on the net), but personally, I don't think it's as egregious as they claim it to be, that I'd give it a full 0/5. Well, there are more blatant examples in other hentai movies that fit this trope better (not that I know of ;) )

If I have anything to say about this, it's this.
They're mostly kids, aged between 13-17, possibly younger. They shouldn't be watching this shit. It's lewd, essentially softcore porn. If the video says there's 3 Patreon-exclusive "extra scenes", that's a dead giveaway! Maybe you should give it an A rating next time so they can't access it.

PS: the Minecraft Steve resemblence is a coincidence. Not part of the review.

teemovsall responds:

That's it! That's a review I can read!
Thanks for taking the time to analyze the video.

This is my second animation with clip studio and I'm still learning. The parallax effect is a little difficult for me. The difference in line thickness is due to the zoom of the camera, the first drawing was made with zoomed out. I can also improve more the movements and details, but I just haven't uploaded a video to my channel for a long time and I don't plan to make it perfect either haha.

Regarding the sound, there are many people who don't realize that it's not easy to find the right sounds. I could pay dubbers to do it but it would take longer, I would lose money and from my point of view I like the anime noises and I don't plan to change them. It only bothers me when people rate them low just because of that.

Thanks again for your review.

0:27: Screwdriver's phone appears behind the box for the 2 frames they overlap.

Foxcato responds:

Oh damn! Thanks for the heads up! I'll fix it right away.

Late again

Animation does not contain any sound. More than eligible to go in the Art Portal.

RE: WebP exists.

tansau responds:

GIF is too large.

Cool song, interesting premise for the video (with it styled like a comic and everything), but has a few flaws.

The stickman dancing in 1:35 has very janky joints and the whole thing feels very stiff and bare at times. You could've done a whole lot more with these stickmen.

carbonlad responds:

This is all true; it was sort of a tradeoff between 'consistent imagery' and 'not wanting it to look like a flash movie'. I was never really good at making flash and I hope to improve

There will be better movies in the future, but not by much.

Thanks for your reply.

4koma girls? More like Glaucoma girls.

You can tell this was meant to be viewed on a phone in portrait mode. If you want to become a real chad, watch this on a widescreen monitor in windowed mode.

zachdewd responds:

Yes it's supposed to be viewed on mobile, but ALSO it's supposed to be viewed like a 4koma manga comic! Look it up, they usually look like this.

Speak now or forever hold your peace.
