2022 Recap

Posted by Anonymous-Frog - December 29th, 2022

2022 is coming to an end, though there's still technically 2 days left. But might as well recap what's already happened since I'm not posting anything new this year.

2021 Recap | 2020 and beyond Recap

January:

First thing I posted was a crappy MS Paint doodle for the NG Rumble art contest. For @53xy83457 who submitted his entire catalog.

For Pixel Day, I created an intro for a gaming series that never got anywhere and broke the front page by trying to submit some crap to 3 different events (Pixel Day, Abobo's 10th Anniversary, and MessyPaints). This got me in trouble with the Groundman

Meanwhile, @BeepBoxClock participated in Jamuary and submitted 60 songs

February:

@BeepBoxClock still participated in Jamuary. And posted a cartoon

Meanwhile, I reuploaded a cartoon I deleted and submitted two crappy Scratch games for Flash Flood

I also did a part for @Little-Rena's 69 FPS Collab (I completed it in 2021, and spoiler, it's the SteakClock part)

Ballfrog also got a neat little ZX Spectrum makeover thanks to my fanart

This was also around the same time I joined the Kitty Krew after 321 (fuck off @$$wipe) brought it back from the dead.

March:

I did the 'code' for GUN SHIT DRIVE, a Shoot Trip Die fangame in the style of Atari 2600 games. And also in Scratch.

April:

Started off with a neat April Fool's prank. Also made in Scratch, apparently this is my secret superweapon to 4 stars.

Aside from that, nothing much, aside from joining some new Discord servers, and losing one of them (hint: 321)

That whole 321 incident forced me to steal one of his collabs as my own and migrate to another server.

May:

Didn't post any animations, but I did participate in AIM 2022 using art from @W-P-S (and help from BeepBoxClock trying to churn it down into Follin-esque proportions)

June:

I submitted for both Piconjo Day and Pico Day (sloppy s3xonds)

For Piconjo Day, I based my submission around @rtil and the final steps towards his journey through Pwnism. It's also featured in Piconjo Jam '22

For Pico Day, a fan music video for @Koit's song "Moustache". Yes Nene has a moustache.

I also somehow managed to submit this as a thumbnail for one of my favourite movies. I did 3 others.

July:

In mid-July, YouTuber Crae submitted three (now-deleted) 7-second shorts based on the "WE HAVE COME FOR YOUR NECTAR" Spongebob meme, which due to being lazy and low-effort, got a lot of backlash over here and on Twitter (the tweet's also deleted, albeit quicker)

I made my own version to piss off reviewers / protest, though it did dethrone Iceologer's Revenge as my most viewed YouTube video, so IDK if it worked.

The rest of my time was spent watching old, sometimes forgotten Flash cartoons from various 2000s creators.

August:

Clock Day's around the corner, so I made this SteakClock in the Desert follow-up game for both Clock Day and @Stepford's Mobile Jam

I also helped motivate @ShrimpClock's write a whole new second half of his submission.

[KK] Inktopia Border Patrol was my attempt to appease the Groundman and

I also did this quick clicker for @plufmot in response to @peti getting one the day before (thanks to Demisurge, thankfully it's stll up as of today)

September:

I faced heavy backlash over four specific Schmucks of the Day on the Tankman Triweekly, claiming they were virtue signaling (in two very tiny spots), which got me kicked off the NG Zero Hour dev team. On one hand, I got bored waiting for any progress to be made, but on the other, it was the first major project I joined that isn't like your typical "collab", so I was bummed that I had to go and my work had to be retraced by another animator and thus can't put it in my portfolio. I'd rather save this whole mess for another day, so next time I do an AMA you know what to do.

Three days later, I finished my Big Hoss submission, which ended up causing a massive review bomb that dropped my score from 3.4 to 2.9. All because of another post I've made after the jam deadline ended.

I still think skeptically about that side of Newgrounds who does this bullshit. The kind where they reject actual criticism

or anything that isn't a 5 star rated "ZOMG Peter!" type "review", then spam them with replies that don't make sense. Even saying something as harmless as "homer simpson's turkey sandwich" is grounds is getting you blocked on NG and Twitter. This is the kind of behavior that I'd like Newgrounds to put a stop to.

Both incidents drained me mentally and put me off Newgrounds for weeks (and also kept me off Twitter). I may still feel its effects today, since my scores keep dropping by 0.3 stars and I couldn't seem to figure out why. I'd like to know who's actually bombing my shit and I want them to stop. Please.

Overall, this is the worst month I've experienced and hopefully I don't go that far again.

October

ZekeySpaceyLizard, an artist and animator I've been following this year, turned god-knows-how-old and I made this short cartoon to celebrate.

I end the month with 2 [KK] flashes, after member biterr had their account deleted twice and had to leave as part of a major sanction. Those being the long not-awaited Great Tweens Collab, and a solo Halloween submission.

I also created Faces of 2002 in response to @Dungeonation's Faces of 2022 Collab, (I participated, but I don't think he used my faces)

And @53xy83457 kicked my ass 6 times.

November

I submitted two parts for the Lock Legion's Weird Science Collab. I only took the second part because I wanted them to get it done.

Robot Day was November 26th so I organized this KK collab in a month, doing my best to polish the Krew's turds (and still trying to raise them to my skill level).

@ninjamuffin99 hosted a 3 Star game jam. This is the only logical explanation for this game.

December

Two Sketch Collabs, three submissions. Thank you @Ozone @midgetsausage and @RGPAnims for the regular collab and Little-Rena for the definitive edition.

And to end the year, I helped out @ShrimpClock again with Part 1 of his movie War Against Locks 2.

Behind the scenes video coming soon.

That's it for 2022. Right now I've got Pixel Day to worry about.

By no means a bad year, it's just that when you start off January so strong, everything else pales in comparison. Apart from maybe the end of October.
